Everything you need to know to download the Acrobat Reader

All About PORTABLE DOCUMENT FORMAT (PDF)

Most of the New NFIRS 5.0 documents are published in PDF format using Adobe's® Portable Document Format (PDF), will display the logo above and carry the .pdf extension to their file name. This allows you to view and print them in their original format. To do this you must first download the free Acrobat® Reader from their web site. The Acrobat® website allows you to specify which version is the correct one for your operating system including Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT, MacIntosh, OS2 Warp, and many others. The Acrobat® Reader allows anyone to view, navigate, and print PDF documents. Follow the easy instructions included with the Acrobat Reader software to install Acrobat® Reader on your computer. Then click any PDF file to view, navigate, or print it.

Important information for Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 users: Adobe Acrobat Control for ActiveX Update

If you recently upgraded to Microsoft® Internet Explorer 4.0, you will need to update your system with the latest ActiveX Control for Adobe® Acrobat® in order to enable PDF Search highlighting and page-at-a-time downloading (byteserving) of multipage PDF files, and to view PDF files within your browser.

If you are using Internet Explorer 3.0, 3.1, or 3.02, and you previously downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader, you do not need this update; the ActiveX Control for those versions was automatically installed with the Acrobat Reader download. However, this new update is compatible with Internet Explorer versions earlier than 4.0.

The Control for ActiveX Update works with Adobe Acrobat versions 3.0 and later, in all languages.
